The first season of Ultima Online New Legacy is racing toward its Shattering, the official year-end apocalypse that will collapse the seasonal server and boot survivors into the live shards. Broadsword announced that New Legacy Publish 3 launches on 26 August 2025, delivering the Fractured Veil prologue quest that kicks off the finale. Character creation for this run ends at server-up on 2 September; anyone hoping to taste the current ruleset must complete the new-character rite before then.
Play will continue until 14 October 2025, when the Fractured Veil event and the Shattering conclude simultaneously. That same day, the server reboots into its second 12-month cycle and veteran characters must complete a one-way transfer to the Atlantic, Catskills, Lake Superior, Pacific, Europa, or Asuka production shards. Unmoved avatars—including banks, houses, inventories, skills, and gold—expire permanently at the stroke of the reboot.
Broadsword has withstood a brief website outage this week while rolling in backend upgrades, and has promised in its latest stream further clarifications on exactly what items, resources, and progression milestones will survive the transfer. The studio will publish those details before the 14 October deadline, giving veterans one final chance to audit their legacy before the shard remakes itself fresh for a new generation of UO explorers.
