Fallout 76 Overhauls CAMP: Player Housing Freedom Arrives This September

Bethesda Game Studios has revealed the long-awaited Fallout 76 CAMP revamp, scheduled to deploy on September 2, 2025. Announced in a developer preview video, the update targets the seven-year-old player housing system at the heart of Appalachia’s persistent world, aiming to remove friction and expand creative freedom for builders.

Creative Director Jon Rush stated the team’s goal is to empower builders with two core improvements. First, the entire build interface is being rebuilt for PC input, replacing the current console-centric design with more precise mouse-and-keyboard controls. Second, restrictive placement rules are being eliminated, allowing structures, objects and vendors to be positioned anywhere within the CAMP radius without collision interference.

While the preview did not address budget limits or server impact, the removal of snap-grid requirements and simplified UI should open new possibilities for large-scale settlements, intricate traps and shared public hubs. Players will not need to purchase or craft any items to access the revised system; all changes arrive free with the September 2 patch.
