World of Tanks 2.0 Overhaul and Arcade Spin-Off Revealed at Gamescom 2025

Wargaming hijacked the Gamescom 2025 spotlight to drop two World of Tanks bombshells that will reset every old and new garage in the game’s ecosystem. The first surprise is World of Tanks: Heat, a standalone spin-off pitched as signature tank combat fused with accessible, arcade-grade shooter mechanics. Distinct hero vehicles arrive with swappable weapons, slottable armour modules and visual flair, while cross-progression across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox keeps progress unified when the title eventually launches.

The second reveal is Update 2.0, a code-deep overhaul for the core MMO that begins phasing in on 3 September 2025. Starting that day and rolling out patch-by-patch, the build will introduce 16 Tier XI tanks, rebalance more than 350 existing vehicles, and retune the matchmaker for faster, fairer brawls. Garages are being retired in favour of a fully interactive tank factory where players can assemble and retrofit machines from the ground up. A new player-vs-environment proving ground will let veterans and returnees test-drive the Tier XI fleet before committing to competitive queues.

Full technical briefs and video breakdowns are already posted on the official Update 2.0 hub and the World of Tanks: Heat site for anyone who needs numbers rather than hype ahead of the September rollout.
