Destiny 2’s Star Wars Crossover: Renegades Expansion Unveils New Blasters and Praxic Blades in December

Destiny 2 has pushed the Year of Prophecy forward with the immediate launch of update Ash and Iron, a free patch that adds a new three-player co-op activity named Reclaim. Guardians drop into the Plaguelands on a time-locked hunt for Golden Age tech while fending off escalating Vex and Cabal fireteams, scoring evolving objectives and fresh loot along the way. The patch also ships a new Exotic quest line, an additional reward pass, and lays the groundwork for an epic difficulty version of The Desert Perpetual raid releasing September 27. Under-the-hood tweaks answer recent community feedback by refreshing the rotation and rewards of Portal events, tempering power-level gains under a higher cap, accelerating gear crafting, and pausing balance nerfs for non-critical gear. Extra events are scheduled every week through October to give PvE mains reasons to stay logged in.

Bungie used the same livestream to lock the date for Destiny 2: Renegades, the previously announced Star Wars-themed expansion arriving December 2. Cross-canon story missions will merge the galaxy far, far away with Destiny’s ongoing timeline, a new social space called Tharsis Outpost will serve as mission board and cantina, and a Lightsaber archetype (the Praxic Blade) plus heat-based blasters enter the sandbox alongside other franchise weapons. Soloers or squads can also side-load repeatable Lawless Frontier objectives meant to stretch the expansion’s life between major Year of Prophecy beats. Further details are expected during the studio’s next seasonal roadmap reveal closer to launch.
