Mainframe Industries has doubled down on its promise that Pax Dei PvP will not be mandatory yet will still function as the primary engine behind the medieval sandbox’s player-driven economy and territorial endgame. In a Discord briefing released September 6, 2025, the studio explained that wars, caravan raids, and keep sieges will create constant demand for crafted arms, siege engines, and imported food, forcing PvE artisans and merchants to feed the war machine whether they draw steel or not.
The design calls for feudal claims to be held by clans who extract silver, ore, and taxes from the surrounding hexes, while risk-averse settlers can still prosper inside smaller trade towns protected by steep respawn costs for attackers. Ownership rewards—ranging from percentage-based market fees to rare spawn toggles—are intentionally high to “inspire players to accept the full weight of risk,” the team said, framing every battle as a server-wide story beat rather than a simple loot explosion.
Mainframe reiterated that solo players will not be locked out: cross-region trade between Lyonesse and the Home Valleys is being balanced so that even a lone forester can profit by supplying garrison lumber or carting grain to contested frontlines. The studio will reveal its seasonal ruleset “soon,” signaling that map resets and reward rotations could periodically scramble established empires.
