Frontier Developments has unveiled the full specifications of the Type-11 Prospector, the first Elite Dangerous vessel designed exclusively for mining, ahead of its paid early-access launch on 23 September. The medium-sized hull carries eight hardpoints: four are locked to mining tools, while the remaining four accept any weapon that fits class limits. A mandatory size-five drone controller and an integrated ship-launched fighter bay are pre-installed, leaving pilots with roughly 300 cargo units and a “respectable” jump range that has yet to be quantified.
Unique internal modules debut on the Prospector, including a bespoke mining drone controller and a plasma rapid-fire cutter that simultaneously performs laser extraction and abrasion blasting, freeing up additional slots for refinement or defence. Based on previously confirmed Arx pricing tiers, the vessel is expected to cost between 16,520 and 33,000 Arx. Full deployment details are available in the official YouTube briefing.
