Amazon Games Unveils ‘March of Giants’: A New War MOBA with Strategic Army Command

Amazon Games has officially lifted the veil on March of Giants, a brand-new 4v4 “War MOBA” that re-imagines battlefield command inside an early-1900s diesel-magic universe. Built by the long-quiet Montreal studio, the project draws veteran talent from Rainbow Six Siege and aims to open its first closed alpha test September 2-10 via Steam.

Each match positions players as literal Giants at the climax of a century-long conflict, blending lane-based MOBA tactics with front-line RTS control over squads of infantry, cavalry and artillery. Instead of passive lane creeps, players summon and direct fully-fledged armies across a ruined urban map that ranges from cobblestone boulevards to arcane cannon emplacements. Mixed science and magic weaponry, from repeating rifles to spell-cracked artillery shells, fuels the battlefield spectacle.

Sign-ups for the eight-day closed alpha are live now; participation is strictly first-come, first-served and runs through Steam. Creative Director Xavier Marquis underlined the team’s goal to innovate within the genre by “injecting strategic layer depth” normally reserved for squad shooters and RTS titles without abandoning match pacing expected from a PvP-focused game.

If accepted, testers will be restricted to an NDA during the September window. Amazon has not yet confirmed regions, monetization or console targets, stating only that the alpha will focus on balance and network feel with an aggressive patching cadence.
