Dune Awakening Expands Building Kit and Launches Free Weekend to Boost Playerbase

Funcom is expanding the Dune Man building set in Dune Awakening after player feedback over the Lost Harvest DLC. The studio says it will add roughly 15 additional pieces to the collection, free for all DLC owners, with the update targeted for late September or early October. This follows complaints that the initial four pieces felt like a tease rather than a full set.

At the same time, the game opens its no-strings free weekend today at 10 a.m. PDT / 1 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. CEST. Anyone can download and explore Arrakis through the Steam page until the event ends, giving newcomers a risk-free look at the survival MMO’s第二章 storyline, Treadwheel vehicle and revamped harvesting systems. An in-game announcement trailer shared on Bluesky shows fresh footage of sandstorms and base raids to tempt hesitant players.

Steam concurrent numbers have remained flat since the DLC launch, so the weekend is a pivotal moment to draw in new blood. If growth continues to stall, expect further tweaks beyond the promised building pieces. Twitch drops from earlier broadcasts are also slated to arrive in-game in a future patch, giving collectors more cosmetics to chase.
