Steel Aces Beta: No Pay-to-Win Tank Battles with Real-World Museum Partnerships

Armative Studios has lifted the curtain on Steel Aces, a free-to-play tank MMO currently in closed beta that publicly commits to zero pay-to-win mechanics and to funding real-world museums through in-game collaborations. Closed beta access remains open for new applicants, with testing having begun on August 10, 2025 and no announced end date.

Vehicle rosters span more than 1,000 armored units drawn from over 40 countries, chronologically ordered from 1916 to the present day. Progression runs down branching tech trees where ammunition upgrades are earned exclusively through play; premium “Collector Tanks” are marketed as cosmetic novelties with stat parity intact. The design rules out artillery and infantry, focusing solely on tank-versus-tank engagements.

Matches will support three pillars: structured PvP, cooperative PvE, and esports circuits, although exact formats have not yet been detailed. Armative’s partnership program with museums promises themed garage environments, historical medals, and battle maps based on traveling exhibitions. Revenue-generating tie-ins will funnel a slice of proceeds directly back to partner institutions.

A 2024 trailer once pointed toward a Steam page that now returns an error; the sole official source remains the game website.
